Note: this recipe is SUGAR DETOX approved!!
Valentine's Day hearts & chocolates everywhere already?!? Got me feeling all mushy with love and adoration for these little buttery bombs of delight.
These Chocolate Butter Bombs have that excellent combination of butter and coconut oil, just like your favorite Bulletproof Coffee, plus the added hormone balancing boost of maca, joint and digestive healing gelatin, and antioxidant superfood, Cacao!
Side-note story: not so long ago in my sugar addiction days, I lived with a dear friend Mark. He was the best kind of roommate - always up for anything. I'd get a whim that I had to go see a different farmer's market out in Temecula, he'd say, sure, I'll go too. I wanted to hold the TV hostage by watching Sex and the City all night with popcorn and wine, he'd sit right down next to me and pour a glass. One late-night Valentine's day I was grouching about not having a Valentine, and therefore not receiving any chocolates as gifts, for that matter... and he came up with the idea to head right to the drug store in the morning, buy all the remaining V-Day chocolates in gaudy glittered boxes that would then be half-price, and gorge ourselves on crappy candy. And we did just that.
CHOCOLATE BUTTER BOMBS
2 Tablespoons Coconut butter, softened
2 Tablespoons butter (grass-fed) or ghee, melted
2 Tablespoons cashew butter, softened
1 1/2 Tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon Maca powder
1 teaspoon gelatin ( I like VITAL Proteins, for which I am an affiliate)
OPTIONAL - 1 teaspoon real maple syrup (Sugar Detoxers omit this step; son't worry, you won't miss it!)
FLAVORING OPTIONS: while the bombs are great on their own, my favorite addition is 1 teaspoon peppermint oil, for Chocolate Mint Bombs. Or try a little cinnamon, vanilla extract, orange extract - get creative to make a whole variety!
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, whisking lightly with a fork to ensure all clumps are gone and the mix is smooth.
Pour into silicone baking molds, or mini cupcake liners on a plate, and freeze, 2 hours.
Makes 10 small hearts, or 6 mini-cupcake liner size - so feel free to double the recipe!
